Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has restored ownership of two previously revoked land plots in Kaduna metropolis to the family of the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha.
The land titles were initially revoked two years ago during the administration of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, citing alleged violations of occupancy terms.
Details of the Restored Properties
- Plot No. 9, Abakpa GRA, Kaduna
- Size: 2,284 square meters
- Covered by Kaduna State Certificate of Occupancy No. 30575
- Plot No. 1, Degel Road, Ungwan Rimi GRA, Kaduna
- Size: 3,705 square meters
- Covered by Kaduna State Certificate of Occupancy No. 11458
Legal Context
Reuben Atabo (SAN), counsel to the Abacha family, disclosed that the 2022 revocation followed a public notice from the Kaduna State Government, which named General Sani Abacha as one of the affected individuals.
The family challenged the decision in court, arguing that the revocation caused undue embarrassment and sought redress for what they deemed an unfair action.
Governor Uba Sani’s reinstatement of the land titles marks a reversal of the previous administration’s position and appears to address the family’s grievances.
