No, @taiwo_×××_××××, (she is not doing this) for the endorsement of her party’s parliamentarians. She has already secured that, as they (the parliamentarians) are the ones who voted her to be the party leader a few weeks ago.
What she now needs is the acceptance of the base of the party, the general membership and supporters of the UK Conservative Party, who are already asking how a hollow-head like her was voted by their parliamentarians to lead the party.
To complicate her situation further, her party’s support is being eroded by a splinter right-wing party called The UK Reform Party, led by someone who is virulently more xenophobic and anti-immigration than any other UK politician, called Nigel Farage. This is the person #CoconutBadenoch is trying to outdo with all this nonsense.
So this is what all this anti-Nigeria, anti-immigrants, anti-northerners, anti-islamists posturing is about.
@KemiBadenoch isn’t a champion of any tribe, religion or region in Nigeria (including her Yoruba race). She is only using the various cleavages we have in Nigeria to feather her political nest. She grabs at every opportunity to rubbish Nigeria, so as to show her party members “hey, look, I may be black but I am more YOU than I’m ‘THEM’.”
And some ill-informed Nigerians with genuine or manufactured grievances against the Nigerian state are now embracing her as their champion.
Because her party and base, being predominantly white and with xenophobic and Islamophobic bent, every policy she will push as opposition leader is more likely to make it more difficult for non-white immigrants and their dependents to move to, settle or live in the UK. And the last time I checked for every one immigrant to the UK from Northern Nigeria there are over a thousand from Southern Nigeria. Yet, most of those who ’see sense’ in her utterances are the same southerners.
Olukemi Olufunto Badenoch (néé Adegoke) is not anyone’s long lost aunty in oyiboland, she is a cunning and calculating politician milking the frustrations of Nigerians on her way to the top.
