Five Killed, Including Three Children, in Kogi Road Crash
At least five persons, among them three children, have died in a road accident along the Lokoja–Ajaokuta Road in Kogi State.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the incident in a statement released on Wednesday in Lokoja, noting that the crash occurred around 11:40 a.m. on Tuesday at the Gidan Bassa community.

According to the FRSC, the accident involved a Toyota Avensis owned by Omala Local Government Area and a Sino truck belonging to Dangote Cement Plc. The two vehicles, bearing registration numbers Kogi BJK172LG and BBR719SA, reportedly collided head-on.

The impact led to the immediate death of five occupants—three children (two girls and one boy) and two adults (one male and one female).
The corps added that 12 people were involved in the crash, while the remaining seven victims sustained varying injuries ranging from bruises to fractures.
Those injured were taken to Ekpe Hospital, Ganaja, and ASCO Hospital, Ajaokuta, for medical care.

Preliminary findings by the FRSC linked the cause of the accident to wrongful overtaking. Four mobile phones recovered from the scene are currently in the custody of the corps, while the damaged vehicles and other personal items were handed over to officers of the Ajaokuta Police Division.
