#Korean Experts Collaborate with Bayelsa State to Boost Rice Production

Four Korean engineers and agricultural specialists have arrived in Bayelsa State to train staff of the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources on operating newly donated rice mills. The equipment, a gift from the South Korean government, is part of an initiative to enhance rice production in the state.

In addition to training ministry engineers, the Korean team is assisting with land preparation and rice planting at the School-to-Land farm along Imiringi Road, Yenagoa.

Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, welcomed the Korean delegation to his hometown of Sampou. During their meeting, Governor Diri expressed gratitude for their role in capacity building and the transfer of agricultural technology to local farmers.

Technical and Strategic Support
The Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Prof. Beke Sese, who accompanied the Korean experts, noted that the rice mills are already being installed and that their technical expertise has been invaluable in driving large-scale rice farming in the state.

Community Engagement and Future Projects
The governor also received a socio-political group, Friends of Senator Douye Diri, who visited to celebrate the Yuletide season. Addressing the group, Governor Diri, joined by his wife, Gloria, emphasized the need for continued peace and unity in the state.

He thanked the group for their support during his re-election campaign and shared updates on ongoing development projects. Among these is the anticipated launch of 60-megawatt gas turbines in 2025, which he said will significantly enhance the state’s investment climate.

This collaboration and investment signify a renewed focus on agricultural development and economic growth in Bayelsa State.
