Lagos expands community electrification drive

The Lagos State Government has extended its rural electrification programme to several new communities to boost power supply and improve living conditions.

According to the Office of Rural Development, the expansion follows Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s directive to enhance electricity access in rural and semi-urban areas as part of the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda.

Beneficiary areas include Diamond Estate in Ipaja, Idojigbo and Badore West One in Igando-Ikotun LCDA, as well as Heritage Estate, Golden Paradise, Ewu-Agbo, and Iradelu Itesiwaju in the Ikorodu Division. Each received new transformers to strengthen electricity supply.

Community leaders praised the initiative, describing it as a major relief for residents and small businesses.

The government said the programme reflects Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to equitable development and his goal of bridging power infrastructure gaps across all local councils in Lagos State.
