#Lagos Government Urges Residents to Report Urban Planning Violations

The Lagos state government has called on residents to actively engage in urban planning by reporting any violations of building regulations and zoning laws.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the state Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Oluyinka Olumide, emphasized that effective urban planning requires the collaboration and input of the public.

“Proper planning cannot be achieved without the support and contribution of the people,” Olumide said. “This is why my doors are always open for Lagos residents to voice their concerns, report any irregular developments, and contribute to the sustainable growth of the state.”

The commissioner urged residents to report illegal constructions, unauthorized developments, and other violations of planning regulations to the ministry. He highlighted that residents can conveniently report issues through the Lagos MPP&UD App, available on both Google Play and the iOS App Store. Additionally, the ministry’s hotlines—07030653241 and 08034698264—are also available for direct reports.

Olumide reassured the public that whistleblowers’ identities would be safeguarded. He further assured that the ministry would take decisive action against any officials found to be involved in or tolerating illegal activities.

By working together with the community, Olumide believes that the government can build a more organized, livable, and sustainable Lagos.
