The Lagos State Government has warned property owners who have not yet paid their 2025 Land Use Charge to settle their outstanding bills before enforcement actions begin.
The warning was issued in a statement announcing the release of the 2026 Land Use Charge bills. The statement, signed by the Director of Public Affairs at the Ministry of Finance, Adeleke Quadri, was made available to journalists on Wednesday.
According to the government, property owners are encouraged to take advantage of the 15 per cent discount offered for early payment by paying their bills within the approved timeframe.

The statement also made it clear that enforcement measures against those who failed to pay their 2025 Land Use Charge will commence soon.
The Ministry of Finance explained that the Land Use Charge remains a vital source of revenue used to fund the development and maintenance of public infrastructure and services across the state. These include roads, hospitals, schools, and security facilities that benefit residents and businesses.
It added that revenue generated from taxpayers has helped finance major projects such as the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Blue Line and the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Red Line. Both rail systems are aimed at improving transportation within the city and reducing travel time for commuters.
According to the ministry, funds from the charge have also supported the construction and rehabilitation of major roads and bridges across Lagos, helping to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity across different parts of the state.
In addition, the revenue has contributed to the expansion and upgrade of healthcare facilities, ensuring residents have better access to quality medical services. It has also supported security initiatives designed to create a safer environment for both residents and businesses.

Speaking on the release of the 2026 Land Use Charge bills, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Tajudeen Mahmud, stressed the importance of compliance by property owners.
He noted that the charge is not only a legal requirement but also a civic responsibility that directly contributes to the growth and development of the state.
According to him, every payment made supports the delivery of better roads, improved healthcare services, quality education, stronger security systems, and a cleaner environment.

Mahmud therefore urged property owners to fulfil their obligations promptly in order to support the government’s vision of building a greater Lagos.
The statement further highlighted that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu remains committed to building a safe, resilient, and globally competitive megacity. It added that the administration continues to invest in infrastructure and development policies aimed at attracting investment and strengthening Lagos as a major hub for commerce and innovation.
The ministry also listed several payment options available to property owners. These include internet banking, designated bank branches across the state, USSD mobile payment platforms, Point of Sale terminals at Land Use Charge offices, the Lagos Online Assistant WhatsApp platform (+2348078441111), and the Lagos Revenue Portal.
Eligible property owners were encouraged to take advantage of the 15 per cent early payment discount while also contributing to the continued growth and development of Lagos State.
