Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, the immediate past Secretary to the Ondo State Government, has said his decision to contest for the Ondo Central Senatorial seat is entirely personal and not influenced by any external forces.
Fasoranti, who is the son of Afenifere leader Pa Reuben Fasoranti, explained that his ambition is driven by a genuine desire to serve and contribute to the development of his people. He recently stepped down from his role in the administration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to focus on his senatorial bid.
Speaking in Akure, he dismissed claims that powerful individuals or political interests were backing his aspiration, describing such suggestions as attempts to undermine his credibility and years of service.
According to him, his decision is rooted in passion and commitment to public service. He pointed to his over three decades of experience in the medical field, including his time at the State House Medical Centre where he rose to a directorate position before retiring in 2024. He also served as Chairman of the Ondo State Hospitals Management Board and later as SSG.
Fasoranti said these experiences have prepared him to represent Ondo Central effectively and contribute meaningfully at the national level.
He added that he plans to engage widely with stakeholders, party leaders, and residents across the district, which includes Ondo West, Ondo East, Ifedore, Akure South, Akure North, and Idanre. His goal, he said, is to develop a people-focused agenda that addresses key challenges and attracts federal projects to the area.
He also urged political actors to focus on issues that matter to the people as the 2027 general elections approach, while encouraging youths and women to actively participate in the political process.
Fasoranti expressed appreciation to Governor Aiyedatiwa for the opportunity to serve, noting that his time in government gave him deeper insight into the needs of the people.
He emphasised that his ambition is guided by values such as integrity, humility, and dedication, and pledged to provide purposeful and inclusive representation if elected.
