A visit by Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to the Delta State School of Nursing took an unexpected turn when students openly mocked her during the event.
The First Lady was in the state as part of her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), a program aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians. During the visit, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori praised her efforts, claiming that Nigeria was undergoing a great transformation in the health sector.
As part of the occasion, professional kits were presented to the wives of South-South governors, who also serve as state coordinators for RHI.
Students Reject “Mother of the Nation” Title
The event took a controversial turn when the First Lady arrived at the Delta State School of Nursing. While introducing her, the Master of Ceremony referred to her as “everyone’s mother”, a traditional title given to First Ladies.
However, the students responded with mockery, rejecting the label.
