NIGERIAN ARMY DEPLOY TROOPS, INTELLIGENCE ASSETS TO RESCUE KADUNA ABDUCTION VICTIMS.

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has confirmed that the Nigerian military, in collaboration with other security agencies, has intensified sustained, intelligence-driven operations to rescue victims abducted by bandits in Kurmin Wali community, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The victims, estimated to be about 177 persons, were reportedly abducted last Sunday while attending a church service, sparking widespread concern and outrage across the country.

In a statement issued by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, the Military High Command reassured affected communities and Nigerians that the safe rescue and reintegration of all abducted persons remains a top priority.

“Contrary to claims of a reduced response, the Armed Forces of Nigeria, working closely with other security agencies, have been conducting sustained, intelligence-driven operations within the area and surrounding forests believed to be hiding the perpetrators,” the statement said.

According to the DHQ, the ongoing operations involve a coordinated combination of ground patrols, aerial surveillance, intelligence gathering, and carefully targeted actions aimed at locating the kidnappers and securing the safe release of the hostages without endangering their lives.

The military acknowledged the fear and emotional distress faced by families of the abducted victims, stressing that operational restraint in some situations is a deliberate and strategic decision to prevent unintended harm to the captives.

“While certain operational details cannot be disclosed for security reasons, significant efforts are underway to dismantle the criminal networks responsible for these abductions,” the statement added.

Major General Onoja further emphasized that the Armed Forces of Nigeria remain resolute in their constitutional duty to protect lives and property and are fully committed to reuniting the Kurmin Wali abductees with their families.

The military also appealed to the public for continued support, patience, and cooperation as security forces intensify efforts toward a successful and casualty-free rescue operation.
