NIGERIAN TROOPS ARREST 15-YEAR-OLD ISWAP COURIER LINKED TO BENISHEIK, NGAMDU ATTACKS IN BORNO

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a 15-year-old suspected logistics courier linked to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Ngamdu, Borno State, in connection with recent insurgent activities in the region.

Security sources confirmed that the teenager, identified as Tijjani, was apprehended while allegedly attempting to procure supplies for insurgents operating along the Ngamdu–Benisheik axis. He was reportedly arrested during ongoing counter-terrorism operations targeting militant movements in the area.

During preliminary interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to involvement in attacks on Benisheik and Ngamdu, claiming he was part of a group that mobilised from a known insurgent enclave in Jilli, Gubio Local Government Area, before carrying out the assaults and retreating afterward.

He further claimed he was sent with a large sum of money to purchase logistics for fighters but was intercepted by troops before completing the mission.

Military sources stated that his arrest has provided new insight into the logistics network and operational structure of insurgent groups in the North-East, particularly the use of supply routes and staging areas to support attacks.

The development follows recent airstrikes carried out in the Jilli axis, which reportedly targeted insurgent logistics bases and destroyed equipment used by fighters.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing to uncover possible accomplices and further dismantle terrorist supply chains in the region.
