Farouk Ahmed has stepped down from his position as Managing Director of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) following corruption allegations raised against him by Dangote Group Chairman, Aliko Dangote.

The development was confirmed on Wednesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who also revealed that Gbenga Komolafe has exited his role as Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).

According to Onanuga, President Bola Tinubu has forwarded the names of two nominees to the Senate to fill the vacant positions.

In a letter to lawmakers, the President requested swift confirmation of Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan as the new CEO of the NUPRC and Saidu Mohammed as the head of the NMDPRA.
