U.S. President Donald J. Trump has issued a strong ultimatum to Iran, threatening military action if the country fails to reopen the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
In a series of posts on his Truth Social platform on Sunday, Trump warned of severe consequences, suggesting potential strikes on key Iranian infrastructure if the waterway remains closed.
“Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it,” he wrote, before demanding that the strait be reopened.
He followed up with a blunt warning, telling Iranian authorities to open the route or face serious repercussions.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical oil transit routes, with a significant portion of global crude supply passing through it. Any disruption to the channel has immediate implications for international energy markets and global economic stability.
