#Oyo APC Accuses Council Chair of Misrepresenting Federal Project

The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly condemned the chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Seun Olufade, for allegedly attempting to take credit for a federal government project. The party warned that any move to commission the facility as a local government initiative would be fraudulent and deceptive.

The project in question, a Cassava Processing Plant in the Barika area of Agbowo, Ibadan, was facilitated by the late House of Representatives member, Hon. Olaide Akinremi, and is being funded by the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology.

In a statement issued over the weekend by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, Oyo APC accused the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state of consistently frustrating federal projects facilitated by APC lawmakers while also attempting to claim credit for them.

The party cited previous instances where council officials, allegedly acting on directives from the state government, obstructed projects initiated by APC representatives. One example mentioned was the Brewery-Arolu-Agoro-Adogba-Monatan Road project in Egbeda LGA, which was halted by PDP-aligned thugs.

APC further alleged that Governor Seyi Makinde has been controlling local government funds since 2019, making it impossible for council chairmen to execute large-scale projects. The party insisted that the cassava processing plant remains a federal initiative and warned the PDP against laying false claims to it.

The statement assured residents that the installation of necessary equipment at the facility would soon be completed, urging them to be wary of political opportunists attempting to take undue credit for developmental projects.

With the upcoming bye-election to replace the late Hon. Akinremi, APC emphasized that Oyo voters would hold the PDP accountable for its actions and demand transparency in governance.
