Passengers of United Nigeria Airlines experienced potential travel disruptions following a ground incident involving one of the airline’s aircraft at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
In a statement released on Sunday, March 29, 2026, the airline said the aircraft, an Embraer 190 arriving from Akanu Ibiam International Airport as Flight UN0503, was parked in an open bay between two nearby aircraft when the incident occurred.

According to the airline, while preparations were underway to board passengers for another flight, one aircraft began taxiing after completing boarding, while another was being pushed back onto the taxi line. During these simultaneous movements, the taxiing aircraft generated a strong jet blast within the ramp area.
The force of the jet blast reportedly displaced a baggage trolley belonging to a ground handling company, which then struck the United Nigeria Airlines aircraft scheduled for Flight UN0500.
The impact caused damage to external parts of the plane, including the antenna and the forward fuselage near the nose landing gear.
The airline said the aircraft has been withdrawn from service for a thorough inspection, in line with its safety protocols.
United Nigeria Airlines apologised for the disruption, assuring passengers that safety remains its top priority. The airline added that efforts are ongoing to minimise inconvenience and provide support to affected travellers.
