The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended 14 individuals suspected of traffic-related robberies along the Lekki–Epe Expressway over the past two weeks, following rising complaints from motorists about thefts of vehicle parts while stuck in traffic.

The arrests were made by officers from the Tactical Squad, Elemoro, at various points along the busy expressway, the command’s spokesperson, CSP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed in a post on X on Tuesday.
“Within the last two weeks, the Tactical Squad, Elemoro, has arrested 14 suspected traffic robbers at different locations along the Lekki–Epe Expressway,” Adebisi stated.
She described the operation as “a clear demonstration of the Command’s commitment to improving security and protecting road users along the corridor,” and encouraged residents to remain alert.

“See something, say something,” the spokesperson added.
The crackdown comes amid growing public concern over robberies targeting vehicles in traffic along the Lekki axis, especially the theft of car parts.
Tech influencer Fisayo Fosudo had recently highlighted the issue on X, sharing his frustration over repeated thefts from his vehicle. “Today marks the fourth time these boys on the street have stolen parts from my car in Lagos traffic,” he wrote.
His post drew responses from other motorists, including a user with the handle #fimiletoks, who warned of a specific targeting pattern. “If you drive an RX 350 (2017–2022), you are a target at night on Lekki–Epe,” the user wrote. “Side mirrors and the black cover behind the mirrors are replaced almost every month. One mirror costs over ₦100,000 and is in high demand. They often pose as beggars or hawkers.”

Residents have long expressed frustration over criminals exploiting traffic jams along the expressway, using street trading or begging as a cover to steal valuables and car parts.
The police confirmed that investigations into the arrested suspects are ongoing and assured the public that patrols and tactical operations would be intensified to curb the menace and restore safety along the route.
