POSSIBLE SABOTAGE: UN PLANE ALLEGEDLY CAPTURED SUPPLYING AID TO TERRORISTS

Tension is rising across Nigeria’s North-East following reports that a United Nations-marked aircraft was allegedly intercepted while delivering supplies to suspected Boko Haram fighters.

Although Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters has not officially confirmed the incident, eyewitness accounts and circulating reports claim the aircraft was spotted in a restricted area believed to be under insurgent control before it was grounded. The development has raised serious concerns within military circles, given the United Nations’ key role in humanitarian operations in the region.

Sources close to the frontline allege that the aircraft was carrying logistics and high-energy supplies that were not linked to any recognised Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp. This has reignited suspicions among some security stakeholders about the possibility of certain aid channels being misused under the cover of humanitarian assistance.

The reports have sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians calling for a full investigation into the flight’s origin, cargo, and mission details.

In response, security has been tightened around Maiduguri International Airport and key UN logistics hubs, while authorities begin efforts to verify the aircraft’s identity and purpose.

This incident, if confirmed, could deepen existing tensions between the Nigerian military and international aid organisations, and may potentially trigger a diplomatic situation.

As of now, the United Nations Humanitarian Air Service has not released an official statement addressing the allegations or clarifying the circumstances surrounding the flight.
