Tension is rising across Nigeria’s North-East following reports that a United Nations-marked aircraft was allegedly intercepted while delivering supplies to suspected Boko Haram fighters.
Although Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters has not officially confirmed the incident, eyewitness accounts and circulating reports claim the aircraft was spotted in a restricted area believed to be under insurgent control before it was grounded. The development has raised serious concerns within military circles, given the United Nations’ key role in humanitarian operations in the region.
