Presidency Opens Up on Tinubu Allegedly Sacking Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff

The Presidency has denied reports claiming that President Bola Tinubu plans to remove Femi Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff and replace him with his Principal Private Secretary, Hakeem Muri-Okunola.

In a statement released on Thursday, the Presidency clarified that there has been no change in the leadership or structure of the Office of the Chief of Staff and that the report did not originate from any official source.

It stated that Gbajabiamila remains the Chief of Staff to the President, while Muri-Okunola continues to serve in his role as Principal Private Secretary. Both officials are said to be carrying out their duties as assigned, with no reshuffle or replacement taking place.

The Presidency condemned the spread of what it described as false and misleading information, accusing mischief-makers of attempting to create confusion and discord within the government through social media.

It cautioned media organisations, content creators, and the public against circulating unverified claims, urging them to always confirm information from credible and authoritative sources.

Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and accurate communication, the Presidency said it would continue to promptly address and correct misinformation that could mislead the public or undermine confidence in government institutions.

Gbajabiamila was appointed Chief of Staff in June 2023 after serving as Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2019 to 2023, having represented Surulere I constituency since 2003.
