PRESIDENT CELEBRATES OLUSOLA OKE AT 70, LAUDS CONTRIBUTIONS TO LAW, POLITICS

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated prominent politician and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Olusola Oke, on the occasion of his 70th birthday, describing him as a respected figure whose contributions to law and politics have made a lasting impact on Ondo State and Nigeria as a whole.

In a statement issued in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President celebrated with Oke’s family, friends, colleagues, and political associates as they marked the milestone.

Tinubu noted that Oke has successfully balanced a distinguished legal career with active participation in politics, earning recognition in both fields. He added that Oke’s reputation as a seasoned lawyer provided a strong foundation for his political journey and his commitment to serving the people.

Reflecting on his career, the President highlighted Oke’s election into the House of Representatives in 1992, where he represented the Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency, as well as his role on the pioneer board of the Niger Delta Development Commission in 2000.

He also acknowledged Oke’s contributions to national politics, including his tenure as National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party from 2008 to 2012, before later joining the All Progressives Congress, where he remains an influential stakeholder. Oke also played a key role in the 2023 presidential election as Deputy Director of Legal Affairs in the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Organisation.

Despite his unsuccessful attempts at becoming governor of Ondo State, the President commended his continued dedication to public service, including his time as Executive Chairman of the Oil Producing Area Development Commission in 2004.

Tinubu prayed for continued good health, strength, and wisdom for the elder statesman as he continues to contribute to national development.

The President also extended birthday wishes to his Special Adviser on Job Creation and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Temitola Adekunle-Johnson, praising his efforts in driving economic growth and expanding opportunities for small businesses across the country.

He commended Adekunle-Johnson’s professionalism and commitment to advancing the administration’s vision for job creation and MSME development, noting that small businesses remain a key pillar of Nigeria’s economy.

According to the President, Adekunle-Johnson has led several impactful initiatives, including the Expanded National MSME Clinics across multiple states, the establishment of 18 Shared Facility Hubs nationwide, and programmes that have helped create about 478,000 jobs.

Tinubu expressed confidence in his continued efforts to promote entrepreneurship, support small businesses, and drive inclusive economic growth, especially for young Nigerians.

He wished both celebrants many more years of impactful service and greater achievements.
