Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on the Postmaster-General/CEO of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), Ms. Tola Odeyemi, to adopt innovative approaches and embrace technology to drive productivity and sustainable change.
Governor Sanwo-Olu made the remarks during a courtesy visit by Ms. Odeyemi to the Lagos House, Marina, emphasizing the need for NIPOST to leverage technology to enhance the ease of doing business in Lagos and across Nigeria.
The Governor stressed the importance of rethinking traditional methods to revitalize NIPOST and align its operations with contemporary and future demands. “You and your team need to think outside the box, challenge the status quo, and bring meaningful change to NIPOST. The systems created in the past served their time, but meeting today’s and future needs requires embracing change,” Sanwo-Olu stated.
Sanwo-Olu also reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s readiness to partner with NIPOST to improve its physical service centers, enhance e-commerce infrastructure, and facilitate the movement and sales of goods within and beyond the state.
In her response, Ms. Odeyemi lauded the Lagos State Government’s achievements in governance and infrastructure, particularly its December programs that attracted members of the diaspora to the state. She highlighted the strategic importance of collaboration between NIPOST and Lagos to foster innovation, boost economic development, and enhance public service delivery.
“The e-commerce sector is rapidly expanding, and Lagos is at the forefront of this growth. With improved postal and logistics services, NIPOST aims to support small businesses and individuals engaged in e-commerce. A partnership with Lagos State will help us optimize last-mile delivery and ensure seamless connectivity,” Odeyemi noted.
She further expressed her commitment to building strategic partnerships to make NIPOST more efficient and relevant in a fast-evolving world.
