Vice President Kashim Shettima has called on Nigerians to remember President Bola Tinubu in their prayers as Muslims observe Ramadan and Christians mark the Lenten season.
In a statement on Thursday, Shettima encouraged citizens across both faiths to use this sacred period to seek divine guidance and strength for the President as he continues to navigate reforms and national governance challenges.

He emphasized that the simultaneous observance of Ramadan and Lent provides an opportunity for collective prayer for national leadership, peace, and stability. Shettima urged Nigerians to pray that the President is granted “wisdom, strength, and foresight to pilot the affairs of our great nation,” highlighting the importance of spiritual support for effective leadership.

The Vice President also stressed that the holy season should inspire practical acts of compassion and unity among citizens. He described it as a time not only for spiritual renewal but also for purposeful nation-building, encouraging Nigerians to engage actively in addressing the country’s challenges.

“Let us not only feed the hungry, but uplift the weary; not only give charity, but extend kindness; not only pray for peace, but work for justice. This is the true essence of Ramadan,” he said.
Shettima further described Ramadan as “a journey of the soul and a time for deep reflection, for self-purification, and for embracing the true essence of Islam, peace, patience, sacrifice, and service to humanity.”

He paid tribute to religious leaders across faiths, calling them “the moral and spiritual compass of the nation” and acknowledging their critical role in shaping Nigeria’s ethical foundation during this period of solemn spiritual discipline.

The Vice President concluded by urging sustained prayers for national stability and unity, emphasizing the need to resist forces that seek to divide the nation.
