In a viral video shared by Sahara Reporters, the soldier is seen challenging the officer and daring him to open fire. A civilian attempted to intervene, but the soldier warned against interference, preventing the situation from being defused.
Security Clash in Ondo: NSCDC vs. MOPOL
Meanwhile, a violent clash between operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and Mobile Police (MOPOL) at a mining site in Ondo State has resulted in injuries and the abduction of two police officers.
The altercation occurred around 4:15 PM on Wednesday at Ade-Olap Global Resources Ltd along the Ore-Sagamu Expressway.
How the Conflict Started
According to police reports, a team of armed NSCDC operatives, escorting officials from the Ministry of Mines, arrived at the site in a convoy of a gun truck and three Hilux vehicles.
- The NSCDC officers allegedly attempted to disarm the MOPOL unit on duty without prior notice, leading to a scuffle.
- During the altercation, one NSCDC officer sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.
- Two MOPOL officers were reportedly abducted by the NSCDC team.
