SOLUDO BACKS TINUBU FOR 2027, SAYS APGA WON’T FIELD PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE

Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, has openly declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 general elections, saying he stands firmly by his decision.

Speaking during a live television interview in Awka on Thursday, Soludo described Tinubu as a trusted ally and personal friend, while urging other presidential aspirants to rethink their ambitions ahead of the polls.

“I have no regrets. Tinubu is my friend, and I want him to win a second term,” he said.

The governor also revealed that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) does not plan to field a presidential candidate in 2027, maintaining a position similar to its approach in the 2023 elections, when the party backed the candidate of the All Progressives Congress.

According to Soludo, the decision should not be seen as anti-party behaviour but rather a strategic move aimed at fostering governance and national development.

He noted that his administration has enjoyed a strong working relationship with the Federal Government, adding that Tinubu has been supportive of Anambra State since assuming office in 2023.

Soludo explained that APGA’s focus remains on strengthening its influence at the state and regional levels, while supporting a presidential candidate it believes can deliver at the national stage.

However, his endorsement has stirred quiet concerns among some party members, who fear it could create internal tensions within the party.
