TINUBU ACTING DECISIVELY TO ADDRESS NIGERIA’S SECURITY CHALLENGES, SAYS SHETTIMA

VP Shettima Highlights President Tinubu’s Commitment to Tackling Security Challenges

Vice President Kashim Shettima has affirmed that President Bola Tinubu remains committed to addressing Nigeria’s security challenges and is taking decisive steps to resolve ongoing concerns.

Shettima made the remarks while receiving the faculty and participants of the Executive Intelligence Management Course (EIMC) 18 of the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS) at his office in the State House, Abuja.

Led by NISS Commandant Joseph Odama, representatives of the 78 participants presented the executive brief of their end-of-course report to the Vice President, who received it on behalf of the President.

Addressing the delegation, Shettima commended the Tinubu administration’s support for the nation’s security apparatus, emphasizing that the President is working tirelessly to strengthen security institutions and promote stability both within Nigeria and across Africa.

“President Tinubu is working round the clock to address concerns in the security sector. It is crucial that all stakeholders come together and act collectively to tackle these challenges,” Shettima said.

The NISS Commandant, Joseph Odama, explained that EIMC 18 began on February 19, 2025, marking a ten-month journey of intellectual growth, strategic development, and professional collaboration. He noted that this year’s cohort comprised 78 senior officials at the rank of Deputy Director and above, drawn from the military, para-military, law enforcement, and strategic government agencies at both federal and state levels.

“In a testament to our pan-African mandate, we hosted participants from five African countries. With the graduation of EIMC 18, the institute has now produced 1,130 strategic leaders equipped to think critically, act decisively, and provide innovative solutions to the most complex security and developmental challenges facing our nation and the continent,” Odama said.

He further expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima for their visionary leadership, noting that the Renewed Hope Agenda is already yielding tangible progress across Nigeria.

The highlight of the visit was the presentation of a report titled:
“Non-State Actors in Security Management in Africa: Issues, Challenges and Prospects for Peace and Development” by the EIMC 18 representatives.

Among the key recommendations was the formal harmonization and integration of country-based security initiatives into a broader strategy aimed at strengthening legal frameworks for peace and conflict resolution across Nigeria and the African continent.
