#Tinubu Arrives Tanzania for Mission 300 Africa Energy Summit

President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to participate in the Mission 300 Africa Energy Summit, a pivotal two-day event aimed at advancing universal energy access across the continent.

The summit, which commenced on January 27, is co-hosted by the Tanzanian government, the African Union, the African Development Bank Group, and the World Bank Group. Tinubu touched down at 10:20 p.m. local time (8:20 p.m. Nigerian time) and was welcomed by Ali Ameir, Tanzania’s Minister of State, Office of the President.

Focus of the Summit

The summit will feature discussions at both ministerial and leadership levels.

  • Day One: Participating countries, including Nigeria, will present their national energy strategies, referred to as “compacts,” detailing their plans to achieve universal energy access within five years.
  • Day Two: Heads of State will convene to endorse the Dar es Salaam Energy Declaration, which will outline a unified roadmap for achieving the Mission 300 objectives.

Nigeria’s Contribution and Tinubu’s Agenda

President Tinubu is set to deliver a national statement reaffirming Nigeria’s dedication to achieving universal energy access and its leading role in Africa’s energy transformation. The statement will emphasize Nigeria’s ongoing clean energy initiatives and its strategies for integrated energy solutions across the continent.

Tinubu’s delegation includes key government officials:

  • Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs
  • Adebayo Adelabu, Minister of Power
  • Olu Verheijen, Special Adviser to the President on Energy

This summit is expected to strengthen regional collaboration and accelerate progress towards sustainable energy solutions for Africa.
