ABUJA — President Bola Tinubu has instructed security agencies to take decisive action to end the kidnapping of students from schools across the country.
This was disclosed on Monday by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, during the Federal Government’s End-of-Year Media Conference in Abuja.

Idris praised the President and security agencies for the successful rescue of the remaining 130 pupils and staff of St. Mary’s Catholic School, Papiri, in Niger State. He also highlighted the recent reunification of abducted church members in Kwara State with their families, and noted that victims of kidnappings in Kebbi State had also been freed.
“President Bola Tinubu has given a firm directive to all security agencies to ensure that such incidents do not recur,” the minister said.

He added, “In cases where kidnappings unfortunately occur, there will be full disclosure and a rapid response to make sure no one escapes justice for such heinous acts against any member of Nigerian society.”
Idris further expressed the Federal Government’s sympathy with parents affected by these traumatic incidents, particularly during the festive season. He wished the rescued pupils and other victims a peaceful reunion with their families, a smooth recovery, and extended warm Christmas greetings.
