#Tinubu Distributes Palliatives to Student Union Presidents Nationwide

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has distributed palliative relief packages, including bags of rice, to Student Union Government (SUG) Presidents from Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. The initiative was facilitated by the Office of the Special Adviser on Students Engagement, Asefon Sunday, and the distribution took place in Abuja on Tuesday.

A Gesture of Support for Students

Asefon highlighted the President’s dedication to supporting students and strengthening relationships with the academic community.

“Today, the SUG Presidents across the Federation will receive their rice from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a leader who values students as not only the leaders of tomorrow but also of today,” Asefon said.

He explained that the distribution had been delayed due to the late arrival of the rice in Abuja in late December 2023. To ensure proper delivery, representatives from each zone were invited to Abuja to manage the distribution process.

“This marks a historic moment as it’s the first time a Nigerian President has directly engaged with SUG Presidents in this manner, especially during December,” Asefon added.

Commitment to Youth Engagement

Looking ahead, Asefon assured that students would benefit even more from the administration’s initiatives in 2024.

“This is a time for Nigerian youth and students to reflect and engage constructively with the government. The presence and impact of the government are now being felt by students and youth across the country,” he stated.

Student Leaders Show Appreciation

Fahad Abdullahi, the SUG President of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, expressed gratitude for the President’s efforts.

“We were informed that all SUG Presidents nationwide should come to receive rice as a gesture from the President. We are sincerely appreciative and commend him for initiatives like the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and now the Rice Initiative. We look forward to more,” Abdullahi said.

This initiative underscores the Tinubu administration’s focus on youth engagement and student welfare as key components of its governance strategy.
