Tinubu, Governors Join Makinde as Oba Rashidi Ladoja Receives Staff of Office as New Olubadan

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Friday officially presented the Staff and Instrument of Office to the new Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Ladoja.

The historic ceremony took place at the iconic Mapo Hall in Ibadan, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in attendance alongside several dignitaries. Governors present included Ademola Adeleke of Osun, Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti, and Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo, while the Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, was also at the event.

Other prominent figures at the coronation included the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, former Ogun State governors Gbenga Daniel and Ibikunle Amosun, as well as former Kano governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

Traditional rulers from across Yorubaland and beyond joined the occasion, among them the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade; the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi; the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Afolabi Olaoye; and the Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Lawal.

Also present were Oyo State Deputy Governor Barrister Adebayo Lawal, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli (Oyo South), Senator Yunus Akintunde (Oyo Central), and several House of Representatives members, including Akin Alabi and Olamiju Alao-Akala.

The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), led by President-General Barrister Sulaimon Ajewole, joined family members, wives of the Olubadan, and well-wishers to witness the coronation of Ibadan’s 44th monarch.
