#Tinubu Meets Google CEO in France, Seeks AI and Tech Partnership

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu met with Google CEO Sundar Pichai in Paris, France, to discuss a strategic partnership aimed at making Nigeria a global leader in artificial intelligence (AI) and digital innovation.

Sharing details on his verified X handle (@officialABAT), Tinubu emphasized Nigeria’s growing AI ecosystem and ongoing collaborations with Awarri Technologies and the National Centre for AI and Robotics (NCAIR) to develop critical AI infrastructure, including data capture platforms and a large language model (LLM) for Nigerian languages.

Key Areas of the Google-Nigeria Partnership:

  • Expansion of scalable cloud infrastructure
  • Workforce training in future-ready digital skills
  • Promotion of AI innovation and research
  • Increased cloud adoption across industries
  • Positioning Nigeria as a global tech and AI hub

Tinubu stated that the partnership aligns with his Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes economic diversification, industrialization, and technological advancement.

“This collaboration will empower businesses, create opportunities, and elevate Nigeria’s role in the global digital economy,” he said.

The Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy will oversee the initiative, while the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) will lead its implementation.

Declaring Nigeria’s readiness to lead in AI and emerging technologies, Tinubu concluded, “This is just the beginning of an exciting journey!”
