President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday hosted the newly installed 46th Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The meeting took place shortly after President Tinubu concluded a closed-door session with security chiefs and National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.
Oba Owoade, who arrived in Abuja on Wednesday, was in the nation’s capital for a strategic engagement with the president. The visit highlights the continued relevance of traditional institutions in national governance and the Federal Government’s commitment to working with royal fathers to strengthen unity and development.
During Oba Owoade’s coronation ceremony in April 2025, President Tinubu had charged him to play a unifying role among the Yoruba people and across Nigeria, describing his ascension as a vital link between the past and the future of the Oyo kingdom.
The monarch officially received his staff of office on January 13, 2025, at the Governor’s Office in Ibadan, after completing the traditional 21-day Oro Ipebi rites on March 29, 2025.

He was formally crowned on April 5, 2025, succeeding the late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, who passed away in April 2022 after reigning for over five decades.
