President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has postponed his planned trip to Iperu in Ogun State and will instead travel to Jos, Plateau State, to sympathise with victims of the recent deadly attacks.
The decision follows fresh violence in the Angwan Rukuba area of Jos North Local Government Area, where nearly 30 people were reportedly killed and several others injured.
Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang had earlier revealed after meeting the President in Abuja that Tinubu was deeply affected by the incident and was considering a visit to the state.
Confirming the change of plans, the Presidency said Tinubu’s visit to Plateau will mark the beginning of a four-state tour. He is expected to meet with the state government and residents to express condolences over the loss of lives.

The President had originally been scheduled to inaugurate operations at the Gateway International Cargo Airport in Iperu, Ogun State, but the event has now been rescheduled.
Providing an update on the situation, Mutfwang described the attack as unfortunate but noted that calm has been restored. He said bodies have been evacuated, while some families have already buried their loved ones. A curfew imposed earlier has also been partially relaxed.

According to him, security agencies acted swiftly to prevent further breakdown of law and order, including attempts by looters to take advantage of the situation.
He added that both state and federal authorities are working together to strengthen security and prevent a recurrence, describing the killings as barbaric and an act of terrorism. Investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible.
After visiting Plateau, Tinubu is expected to continue his itinerary with stops in Lagos, Ogun, and Bayelsa States, where he will commission key infrastructure projects and observe the Easter holiday.
