TRUMP CALLS GERMANY, FRANCE, SPAIN, OTHER NATO MEMBERS ‘COWARDS’, PAPER TIGERS OVER IRAN CONFLICT

United States President Donald Trump has criticised members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, accusing them of failing to support military efforts against Iran while complaining about the global surge in oil prices.

In a post shared on his Truth Social platform, Trump described the alliance as ineffective without American leadership, stating, “Without the U.S.A., NATO is a paper tiger.”

He claimed that several NATO countries refused to join efforts to confront what he called a “nuclear-powered Iran,” but are now voicing concerns about the economic fallout, particularly rising energy costs.

“They didn’t want to join the fight… now they complain about the high oil prices they are forced to pay,” he said.

Trump also pointed to the Strait of Hormuz as a critical factor in the global energy crisis, suggesting that allied military action to secure the route could have prevented the spike in oil prices.

“But they don’t want to help open the Strait of Hormuz… a simple military maneuver,” he added.

He ended his remarks with a sharp rebuke of NATO allies, accusing them of lacking courage and commitment during a crucial period of global tension.

The comments come amid escalating conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, with disruptions around key oil transit routes continuing to impact global markets.

Meanwhile, several European nations have distanced themselves from direct military involvement. Leaders across the continent have emphasised diplomacy and de-escalation, warning that further escalation could deepen instability in the Middle East and worsen the global energy situation.
