US President-elect Donald Trump has vowed to tackle what he called “transgender lunacy,” asserting that “there are only two genders.” Speaking at the AmericaFest conference in Phoenix, Arizona, on Sunday, Trump outlined sweeping policies to roll back LGBTQ+ rights and implement strict measures on immigration, foreign policy, and crime.
Transgender Policies Targeted
In his remarks to a gathering of young conservatives, Trump announced plans to:
- Sign executive orders banning transgender individuals from serving in the military.
- Prohibit discussions on gender identity in elementary, middle, and high schools.
- Prevent biological males from competing in women’s sports.
- Establish an official policy that the US government recognizes only two genders, male and female.
“I will stop child sexual mutilation and restore sanity to our schools and society,” Trump declared.
Immigration and Crime Crackdowns
The president-elect also reiterated his hardline stance on immigration and drug cartels. He pledged:
- To launch “the largest deportation operation in American history.”
- To designate drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations, dismantling their networks on US soil.
“This criminal network will be dismantled, deported, and destroyed,” Trump said, blaming Latin American migrants for contributing to America’s drug crisis.
Foreign Policy and the Panama Canal
On foreign policy, Trump promised to swiftly end the war in Ukraine, stabilize the Middle East, and prevent a potential World War III, though he did not elaborate on his strategies.
Trump also criticized Panama’s operation of the Panama Canal, calling current fees “ridiculous” and warning of potential US demands to regain control of the canal if treaty obligations are not met.
Promises for a New Era
In his speech, Trump described his upcoming administration as a turning point for the nation.
“On January 20, the United States will turn the page on four long, horrible years of failure, incompetence, and national decline. We will inaugurate a new era of peace, prosperity, and national greatness,” he said.
Trump’s speech, blending bold promises and sharp critiques of the current administration, sets the stage for a presidency he describes as heralding a “golden age of America.”
