UGANDAN ARMY SEARCH BOBI WINE’S HOME, COMPEL WIFE TO SURRENDER OR DISCLOSE HUSBAND’S LOCATION.

Ugandan opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi, widely known as Bobi Wine, has raised alarm over what he described as a military raid on his residence in Magere, alleging that armed security operatives stormed the property in search of him.

Bobi Wine disclosed the incident in a video shared on Friday evening, claiming that soldiers forcibly entered his home and attempted to compel his wife, Barbara Kyagulanyi, to either surrender or disclose his location.

“The military is breaking into our house in Magere, forcing Maama @lamBarbieKyagulanyi to surrender or reveal my whereabouts,” he wrote in the caption accompanying the video.

In the footage, Barbara Kyagulanyi is heard confronting the armed men as they moved around the compound, repeatedly demanding to know their purpose. “What do you want in our compound? What is it that you want in our compound?” she asked.

The development has heightened concerns over the continued intimidation and harassment of opposition figures in Uganda. Bobi Wine, a leading critic of President Yoweri Museveni’s decades-long rule, has repeatedly accused security agencies of targeting him through arrests, raids, and constant surveillance since he emerged as a major opposition force.

As of the time this report was filed, Ugandan authorities had not released any official statement explaining the operation at the Magere residence or the reasons behind the reported search.

The incident comes amid heightened political tension following an earlier controversial directive by Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, banning Bobi Wine from participating in the country’s electoral process on grounds of national security. Kainerugaba, who is also President Museveni’s eldest son, made the declaration in a public statement attributed to him, asserting his authority as head of the armed forces.
