###US COMPANY WITHDRAWS NIGERIA’S PRESIDENTIAL JET FROM SALE

The marketing agency responsible for selling Nigeria’s presidential Boeing 737-700 Business Jet has removed the aircraft from its listings.

The jet, which had previously appeared on the company’s website, was no longer visible when our correspondent checked.

In an email to The PUNCH, Laurie Barringer, Manager of Market Research at JetHQ, confirmed that the aircraft is no longer listed and advised that any further inquiries be directed to the Nigerian government.

She wrote, “Thank you for your email. We no longer have the listing on the Boeing. You will need to reach out to the Nigerian Government for information as to what has become of the aircraft. I appreciate your time.”

Attempts to obtain a statement from the media aide to the National Security Adviser, Ismail Garba, who had earlier promised a response, were unsuccessful days after the commitment.

The development follows The PUNCH’s October 2025 report that the jet, originally listed by the Federal Government in July 2025, had remained unsold nearly four months after being uploaded on the international aircraft sales platform. At that time, email exchanges with JetHQ confirmed the jet was still available.

Barringer later clarified that JetHQ would not disclose further details about the sale, citing proprietary restrictions. She stated, “We do not provide this kind of information to anyone but the direct owner of the aircraft. This is considered proprietary information. The only data we can provide is that the aircraft remains available for sale.”

Prior to its removal, records indicated the jet had undergone partial refurbishment and inspections at AMAC’s Basel facility in July 2024, which included first-class seat refurbishment, replacement of cabin carpets, and major C1–C2 inspections.

According to aircraftcostcalculator.com, a pre-owned Boeing 737 BBJ has an estimated market value of approximately $56 million, depending on its configuration and maintenance history.

The aircraft was purchased in 2005 for $43 million under former President Olusegun Obasanjo and has been part of the Presidential Air Fleet since then.

In July 2025, the Tinubu administration announced plans to sell the jet as part of broader cost-cutting and fleet rationalisation measures, amid increasing public scrutiny of government expenditures.
