The United States military has confirmed the death of a fourth American service member following injuries sustained during Iran’s retaliatory attacks, as combat continues in President Donald Trump’s military operations against the Islamic Republic.

According to a Monday update from U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the latest casualty had previously been listed as seriously wounded. CENTCOM noted that major combat operations remain ongoing across the region, while the identities of the deceased will not be released until at least 24 hours after families are notified.

The announcement follows Sunday’s report confirming three U.S. troop deaths and multiple injuries during Operation Epic Fury, a campaign of airstrikes targeting Iranian military and political infrastructure. Several other personnel sustained serious injuries or minor wounds amid retaliatory strikes by Iranian forces.

The rising casualties highlight the human cost of the escalating conflict, which erupted after coordinated U.S. and Israeli attacks. Reports indicate that senior Iranian leaders, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, were killed in the assaults, prompting widespread retaliation and increased regional instability.

President Trump affirmed the continuation of military operations, describing the campaign as a “righteous mission” aimed at neutralizing what he called an existential threat from Iran. The U.S. government maintains that the strikes respond to a growing nuclear and missile threat, though no public evidence has been provided, and Iran has denied pursuing nuclear weapons.
