###WIKE SACKS FCT-IRS ACTING CHAIRMAN WEEKS AFTER STAFF HONOURED HIM FOR EXEMPLARY LEADERSHIP

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed Michael Ango, the Acting Executive Chairman of the FCT Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS).

The announcement was made in a statement released on Friday, December 5, 2025, by Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Public Communication and Social Media.

According to the statement, Ango’s removal takes immediate effect as part of the minister’s ongoing efforts to restructure revenue-generating institutions in the territory.

Olayinka added that Wike has instructed the most senior official at the FCT-IRS to assume leadership of the agency without delay.

“The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has sacked the Acting Executive Chairman of the FCT Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Michael Ango,” the statement read.
“The most senior official of the FCT-IRS has been directed to take over the running of the revenue agency with immediate effect.”

The minister did not provide an immediate explanation for Ango’s removal.

Ango was appointed acting chairman in August 2024 by President Bola Tinubu, who praised him for his extensive experience and proven track record in revenue administration, financial management, and organisational leadership.

Last month, according to TheCable, FCT-IRS staff honoured Ango at an event titled “A Night With Ango”, recognising his visionary leadership. The event celebrated his commitment to staff development, transparency, and efforts to transform the agency into a model revenue institution.
