Eleven people died when a small plane carrying foreign tourists crashed and burst into flames shortly after takeoff from Diani, Kenya, on Tuesday morning.
The Mombasa Air Safari flight was en route to Kichwa Tembo airstrip in Maasai Mara National Park when it went down around 5:30 a.m. local time, about 40 km from the departure point.

Witnesses heard a loud explosion followed by a massive fireball.
The aircraft had 11 people on board: eight Hungarians, two Germans, and one Kenyan pilot. There were no survivors, the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority confirmed.

The wreckage was completely burned, complicating identification. Investigators are working to determine the cause, with the airline pledging full cooperation.
This is Kenya’s third major air crash in recent months, following incidents in Kiambu County (August) and near Naivasha (January).
