11 murder suspects arrested for Bauchi man’s death

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested 11 suspects in connection with the murder of a 29-year-old man, Ahmad Lawan, popularly known as Soje.

Police spokesperson CSP Ahmed Wakil said in a statement on Monday that the suspects were apprehended while efforts continue to track down others still at large. Those arrested include Abdulwahab Adamu (25), Nuruddeen Idris (21), Kabiru Saidu (25), Ibrahim Hamza (22), Abdullahi Isah (21), and six others aged between 24 and 27.

According to Wakil, the incident occurred on October 2, 2025, when two men allegedly went to Lawan’s home in Sabon Kasuwa, stabbed him in the chest, and fled. Police officers led by CSP Mubarak Sani Baba took the victim to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, where he was confirmed dead.

Preliminary investigations identified Abubakar Ibrahim, alias Duduwa, and Abubakar Mohammed as prime suspects. Following Lawan’s burial, angry youths reportedly set fire to a suspect’s family house, but security operatives contained the unrest.

Wakil added that Ibrahim was later caught by vigilantes in Mararraban Liman-Katagum but was attacked by a mob before police rescued him for treatment.
