Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State is reportedly exploring alternative political platforms ahead of the 2026 governorship election, the National Deputy Vice Chairman (Southwest) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Kamorudeen Ajisafe, has revealed.

Speaking on a radio programme, ‘Frank Talk,’ Ajisafe noted that internal crises within the PDP may prevent the party from presenting a candidate for the upcoming election, leaving Governor Adeleke with limited options to secure a platform for his re-election bid.

He explained that similar challenges were experienced in Ekiti State due to internal party rebellions, highlighting the need for Governor Adeleke to consider other parties to exercise his political rights.
Ajisafe said, “It is well known that the PDP may not be able to nominate a candidate for the 2026 governorship election. Governor Adeleke must therefore consider other platforms where he can contest. The primaries must conclude by December 15, and any party failing to conduct a recognized primary by then will not have its candidate acknowledged by INEC.”

The PDP chieftain emphasized that the governor’s potential move is a practical decision rather than a reflection of disloyalty, noting the urgency to secure a platform in line with constitutional timelines.
Reports indicate that Governor Adeleke is weighing options between the Accord Party and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for his 2026 re-election bid. Sources within the state disclosed that the governor has engaged party leaders of Accord regarding a possible ticket, though arrangements have not yet been finalized, as he seeks the most viable path to contest the August 8 election.
