The African Democratic Congress (ADC), a newly formed opposition coalition, has reiterated its commitment to democratic principles, declaring that its objective is to democratically unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The clarification came on Thursday through a statement issued in Abuja by Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s acting National Publicity Secretary, in response to a tweet by Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy. Onanuga had accused the opposition of plotting to oust the Tinubu administration before the 2027 general elections.
Addressing the allegation, Abdullahi stated, “We are not soldiers; we are politicians. We don’t have bullets — we only have ballots.” He stressed that the ADC has no intention of undermining Nigeria’s democratic system and remains fully committed to building a better Nigeria through peaceful and democratic processes.
He further emphasized that a free, fair, and competitive political space is crucial for the survival and growth of Nigeria’s democracy.
