The coalition aiming to unseat President Bola Tinubu has officially broken ties with the proposed All Democratic Alliance (ADA) and adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its platform.
Bolaji Abdullahi, the coalition’s National Publicity Secretary, disclosed that the decision was reached by party leaders at a meeting in Abuja. He said the alliance “has rested everything” connected with ADA and no longer wishes to depend on its registration.
The ADC leadership reportedly urged figures such as Peter Obi (Labour Party), Nasir El-Rufai (SDP), and Senator Aminu Tambuwal (PDP) to resign from their current parties and commit fully to the ADC.
Among those in attendance at the Abuja gathering were former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, interim national chairman David Mark, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola (National Secretary), ex-Governors Nasir El-Rufai and Aminu Tambuwal, and former Rivers State Governor Chibuike Amaechi.
On the 2027 election, Abdullahi said all presidential aspirants in the coalition have agreed to support whoever wins the ADC primaries. He also noted that primaries for the off-cycle gubernatorial elections in Osun and Ekiti will soon be scheduled.
