Former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate, Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed, has criticized the emerging political coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing it as a ploy to deceive Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, Baba-Ahmed dismissed the coalition, which reportedly includes former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Rotimi Amaechi, Nasir El-Rufai, and former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.
“They are deceiving us,” Baba-Ahmed said during the interview. “Yes, I’m Labour Party for God’s sake. I still want Peter Obi to come back to the Labour Party and contest for the 2027 election.”
He emphasized that there are “more fundamental issues” that deserve national attention, adding that political distractions like the ADC coalition offer no real solutions to the country’s pressing challenges.
Reports indicate that the ADC coalition is positioning itself as a strong opposition force ahead of the next presidential election, seeking to unify prominent figures across party lines to challenge the ruling party.
