The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced that more than 3.4 million new voters have been captured in the ongoing second phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise across the country.

In its week 13 update released in Abuja, the commission revealed that a total of 3,441,121 registrations had been recorded as of April 3, combining both online pre-registrations and in-person sign-ups.
Out of the total figure, 2,068,384 individuals completed their registration online, while 1,372,737 registered physically at various centres nationwide.

State data showed that Jigawa recorded the highest number of new voters with 201,047 registrations, followed by Lagos with 181,095, and Kano with 177,681.
Young people continued to dominate the exercise, with those aged between 18 and 34 accounting for 2,354,768 registrants, representing over two-thirds of the total number.
In terms of gender distribution, women made up the majority, with 1,922,143 registrations, while male registrants stood at 1,518,978.

Students formed the largest occupational group among new voters, with 1,235,931 registrations. This was followed by individuals engaged in business and those in farming and fishing.
The commission also noted that 48,330 Persons with Disabilities participated in the registration process during the period.

INEC clarified that the figures are provisional and subject to verification through data cleaning and biometric checks before final publication.
Additionally, voter registration remains temporarily suspended in the Federal Capital Territory due to recent local government elections, in line with provisions of the Electoral Act.

The commission encouraged eligible Nigerians who have not yet registered to do so through its official platforms before the registration window closes.
