Former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has stepped up efforts to strengthen the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State ahead of the 2027 elections.
Over the past week, Saraki hosted party leaders, ward executives, and stakeholders across Ilorin West and Ilorin East Local Government Areas. The meetings, held around Iftar and Maghrib prayers, focused on reinforcing grassroots structures and promoting voter registration.
Party officials described the engagements as a deliberate strategy to maintain close interaction with members and foster unity, vigilance, and active participation across the state. Saraki emphasized the importance of organisation and mobilisation, stating, “Organisation, mobilisation, and ensuring that our supporters are duly registered must remain our collective focus.”
Ward representatives updated Saraki on local activities and pledged their commitment to strengthening the party’s grassroots network. He also met former councillors, supervising councillors, and ex-local government chairpersons, calling for reconciliation and unity within the PDP. “The PDP remains a shared home for all of us. Let us put the past behind us and move forward together,” he urged.
In addition, Saraki engaged young women from Ilorin South LGA, highlighting the importance of youth and women’s inclusion in leadership. He also continued his humanitarian outreach through the Ile-Arugbo initiative, providing food support for elderly women in Ilorin.
