Tinubu Slams Opposition Figures, Promises Greater Prosperity for Nigerians in 2027
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has criticised opposition politicians seeking to challenge him in the 2027 presidential election, describing them as failures while promising Nigerians greater prosperity if he secures a second term.
Tinubu made the remarks on Saturday during the flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign in Kaduna State. He defended his administration’s economic policies and urged Nigerians to support his re-election bid.

The president argued that opposition parties had failed to present credible alternatives to his government’s policies, insisting that his administration was focused on economic recovery, growth and expanding opportunities for citizens.
Tinubu acknowledged the economic difficulties facing Nigerians but maintained that his government was working to reduce poverty and improve living conditions. He also praised APC governors for their developmental efforts, particularly in the regular payment of workers’ salaries.
Addressing young Nigerians, the president promised that a second term would build on the progress he said his administration had made, offering greater opportunities, economic stability and development.
He also defended the removal of the fuel subsidy, arguing that the previous system encouraged corruption, false invoicing and smuggling. According to him, ending the subsidy had helped address some of these practices.

Tinubu expressed appreciation to Kaduna residents for supporting him during the 2023 presidential election, noting that their votes contributed to his emergence as president. He appealed to them to support him again in 2027 to sustain his administration’s policies.
The president further encouraged eligible Nigerians to obtain and protect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), stressing the importance of participating in the forthcoming elections.
He called on voters to support APC candidates contesting governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and state House of Assembly seats, arguing that retaining the party across different levels of government would help sustain its development agenda.
Tinubu concluded by reaffirming his commitment to economic recovery, improved living conditions and a more prosperous future for Nigerians if re-elected.
