A former Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Abiodun Adigun-Hammed, has predicted a decisive victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Oyo State in the 2027 general elections.

Adigun-Hammed described as unrealistic any suggestion that President Tinubu would rely on Governor Seyi Makinde to influence the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State. He was reacting to claims attributed to Makinde during a recent media interaction, in which the governor allegedly said that former Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike offered to deliver Oyo State to Tinubu—an offer Makinde reportedly rejected.

In a statement, the former lawmaker dismissed the claim as false, arguing that Governor Makinde lacks the credibility to manage any political arrangement. He accused the governor of betraying several political figures who supported him during the 2019 elections, including former governor and Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, Senator Sarafadeen Alli, and others.
Adigun-Hammed also questioned a contract Makinde reportedly said he executed in 1997, valued at about $1 million, urging Nigerians to demand clarification on the project.

He further claimed that the APC was steadily gaining strength in Oyo State, saying residents were increasingly dissatisfied with what he described as Makinde’s political posturing.
According to him, the APC in Oyo State boasts experienced political figures, including senators, members of the House of Representatives, former deputy governors, and ex-ministers, making any claim that the state could be “handed over” politically untenable.

Adigun-Hammed also accused Makinde of failing to acknowledge the support he allegedly received from President Tinubu and other stakeholders during the 2023 elections, while responding with what he described as misleading narratives.
Looking ahead to 2027, he expressed confidence that President Tinubu would defeat Governor Makinde or any candidate backed by him, insisting that the APC would record a convincing victory in Oyo State.
