The Plateau State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board has confirmed that the first group of 294 Christian pilgrims from the state currently in Israel are safe, despite ongoing regional tensions involving military actions by Israel and the United States against Iran.

In a statement released on Sunday, Executive Secretary Wanson Bagu assured that the welfare and safety of the pilgrims remain the Board’s top priority. Measures have been put in place in collaboration with Israeli authorities, the Nigerian Embassy, and other security agencies to ensure their protection.

Bagu noted that the pilgrims are conducting their spiritual activities within designated safe zones under continuous monitoring. The pilgrims have since moved to Jordan ahead of their return to Nigeria, with communication channels keeping families informed and reassured.
“The first batch is expected to return home soon, with airline arrangements being finalised for a smooth journey,” the statement said.

To support the pilgrims’ spiritual and emotional well-being, the Board is facilitating worship services, prayer sessions, counselling, and medical support if needed.
The Board expressed gratitude to Nigerians and the church community for their prayers and support, urging the public to remain calm and trust in the safety measures in place.

Rev. Bagu emphasized the Board’s commitment to transparency, promising to provide updates as necessary and called for continued prayers for peace in the region and the pilgrims’ safe return.
