3 KILLED AS BANDITS SET HOUSES, SILOS ABLAZE IN ZAMFARA

Suspected bandits have killed three people and destroyed several homes and food silos in Dangoro village, Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The State Police Command confirmed the attack in a statement on Monday, saying it occurred late on March 28, 2026, when heavily armed assailants stormed the village through the Nahuche District.

According to police spokesperson Yazid Abubakar, the attackers fired gunshots indiscriminately, setting houses, silos, and livestock ablaze in the process.

Security operatives, alongside local vigilantes, were quickly deployed to the area and engaged the attackers in a gun battle, forcing them to retreat into the bush, some with suspected gunshot wounds.

“Regrettably, three persons lost their lives during the incident, including a member of the Community Protection Guard,” Abubakar said.

He added that five people sustained gunshot injuries, while four others suffered burns from the fire. The injured victims have been taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Gusau and are said to be responding to treatment.

The attack also left significant damage, with several homes destroyed and food supplies wiped out after silos containing grains were set on fire.

The police said efforts are ongoing to track down those responsible. Commissioner of Police Ahmad Muhammad reassured residents of continued security operations and urged them to remain calm while cooperating with authorities by providing useful information.
