40 worshippers kidnapped as bandits invade mosque in Zamfara during morning prayers

At least 40 Muslim worshippers were abducted by armed bandits during early morning prayers at a mosque in Gidan Turbe village, Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The attackers stormed the mosque around 5:30 a.m., surrounded the premises, and marched the worshippers at gunpoint into nearby forests along the Gohori axis of Tsafe. The incident has sparked fear across the community and raised fresh concerns over fragile peace initiatives in the North-West, where dialogue with armed groups continues to falter.

Meanwhile, troops of Operation Fasin Yamma (OPFY) reported foiling several terrorist attacks in Katsina, Kebbi, and Zamfara States.

Katsina: Troops of 17 Brigade FOB Mabai ambushed terrorists near Gatakawa village, seizing a motorcycle and a mobile phone. In Danmusa, soldiers repelled an ambush on Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) personnel, though one officer later died from gunshot wounds.

Kebbi: Troops of 8 Division Garrison engaged terrorists at Ungushi village, Kebbe LGA, forcing them to retreat. A civilian injured in the clash was evacuated to Kebbe General Hospital. In Augie LGA, troops and NSCDC operatives responded to another attack in Tunga Dade, where terrorists stole a motorcycle before escaping.

Zamfara: Troops of 1 Brigade Team 7 on patrol at Mararaba Kyeware were ambushed near Kuka village. Two soldiers were wounded and later transferred from Tsafe General Hospital to 1 Brigade Medical Centre.

Military operations are ongoing across the region, even as negotiations with some armed groups remain under consideration.
